Teaches the knowledge and skills required to safely use the EPI-Pen. |
| Learning Objectives: |
The student will learn to assess anaphylaxis and administer the Epi-Pen.
Communicate details of the incident to: Ambulance and emergency services.
Requirements for successful completion:
- Define the term allergic reaction
- Define the term anaphylaxis
- How do we prevent an anaphylaxis
- Recognition of anaphylaxis
- Differentiates from other conditions
- Safety issues with the drug (adrenaline) in the Epi-Pen
- When to give the Epi-Pen
- Consent/legal discussions
- Practice makes perfect

This training is suitable for individuals, companies and organisations which require staff to be trained in assessment of anaphylaxis and administer the Epi Pen. |
| Course Prerequisites: |
Be at least 16 years of age by the last scheduled session of the course. |

The course includes a balanced content of theory and class participation through open discussion and practical application. |

| Requirements for Completion: |
- Attendance at all sections of the course is required.
- Active participation in group activities and discussions involved in the training program.
- Successfully complete progressive practical assessments.
- Progressive assessment of the competencies will be conducted throughout the course.
- Successfully complete a multiple-choice theoretical assessment at the end of the course.
